2007 A SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR HULSEY LAW GROUP CHARITABLE EFFORTS

During 2007 the Hulsey Law Group dedicated a significant percentage of its time and attention to the promotion of the charitable activities which help to form the basis of its firm philosophy. Through the efforts of its partners, Paul H. Hulsey and Cherie K. Durand, as well as the commitment of its attorneys and staff, the firm was successful in donating and raising considerable funds for a variety of deserving Lowcountry organizations.

HLG was a title sponsor for the Chefs’ Feast benefiting the Kids Café of the Lowcountry Food Bank which provides healthy food to numerous children in the area who would otherwise go hungry. In addition to acting as sponsor, during the Feast Paul Hulsey offered to match the $110,000.00 donated for a total return of $220,000.00. Paul Hulsey and Cherie Durand also act as honorary chairpersons of the 2008 Chefs’ Feast.

In conjunction with Tommy Baker of Baker Motor Company, Paul Hulsey created Marvel House which facilitated their donation of land and financing for the construction of a home to be sold for the benefit of MUSC Children’s Hospital. The ultimate sale of the home, which has now been completed, is expected to raise in excess of $100,000.00 for the Children’s Hospital.

HLG, through the efforts of Paul Hulsey, has also been a sponsor of the MUSC Golf tournament and has held a music event with Darius Rucker and Edwin McCain in support of MUSC. Through these events he has participated personally in raising contributions in excess of $180,000.00 to MUSC.

In conjunction with others, Paul Hulsey contributed the final amounts necessary to create a $1,000,000.00 endowed Pediatric Cardiology chair to MUSC Hospital.

HLG has been a presenting sponsor of the golf tournament for the Hollings Cancer Center, helping to raise $105,000.00 for the Center.

HLG has supported the Special Olympics of the Lowcountry as a presenting sponsor for their annual fundraiser. The firm has individually sponsored 100 athletes for the 2007-2008 year and has sponsored the entire golf team. In addition the firm has held two art shows, one at MUSC and another at 68 Queen Street, to highlight the talents of artists with intellectual disabilities through the Special Olympics.

HLG, through Paul Hulsey, a founding Board Member, has given financial support to YESCarolina which fosters entrepreneurial education for low country youth. Again in conjunction with Tommy Baker, Paul Hulsey sponsored the Baker Hulsey Awards Banquet which provides awards to exceptional student entrepreneurs.

HLG has been a significant contributing sponsor of Crisis Ministries and provided lockers for the men’s locker room in their new facility.

HLG has supported an after school program for Hispanic children (Good Start Christian Day School) and has purchased Christmas gifts for the children.

HLG continues to support the efforts of Linda Gadson and the Rural Mission, providing assistance to those in need in the rural community.

Overall, HLG is pleased with the results of its charitable commitments to the local community for 2007, participating in well over a million dollars in contributions to help the sick, needy and poor of the Lowcountry. We now reassert our commitment for 2008 to support the needs of the community through charitable activities and community service, as well as dedicating further efforts to convince others in the community to do the same.
